Szilárd Benes is constantly in search of new sounds with his instrument and pushes music to its limits. Collaborations with composers are an important part of his work. His concerts have been recorded numerous times and broadcasted on Ö1. He has also collaborated and recorded with CD labels such as Austrian Gramophone, Kairos and Inexhaustible Editions. Benes is the solo clarinetist of the Schallfeld Ensemble in Graz and bass clarinetist of the ensemble XXI. jahrhundert in Vienna. As a soloist and chamber musician with his own ensembles as well as with other renowned ensembles such as Klangforum Wien and Ensemble PHACE, Benes has been invited to international festivals and venues such as the Salzburg Festival, Beethovenfest Bonn, Steirischer Herbst, IMD Darmstadt, Klangspuren Schwaz, Bregenzer Festspiele, Time of Music (Finland), Visiones Sonoras Festival (Mexico), Wien Modern, Warschauer Herbst, ManiFeste (France), Wiener Festwochen, Gaudeamus Muziekweek (Netherlands), Jeunesse Wien, impuls Festival, Wiener Konzerthaus and Carnegie Hall.
