Academy

Program for Electronics 2025

For young composers, but also computer musicians, sound artists and others engaged in electronics impuls holds a couple of specific offers.

One of the most extensive programs hereby is Speculative Sound Synthesis at the Institute for Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM) with Luc Döbereiner, Ji Youn Kang, David Pirrò and Leonie Strecker, aiming for participants committed to critical, speculative approaches at the intersection of art and technology, and who are engaged in practices that question, challenge, criticize, deconstruct, recompose, reformulate, shift, dislocate, endanger or reject established standards of sound synthesis and (music) technology. The program offers both places for active as well as "listening" participants. For further information and conditions for application, that does not necessarily need an acceptance as impuls Academy participant from the very beginning, please check Speculative Sound Synthesis.

Digital Dialogues in turn calls for impuls Academy participants to develop a live electronic solo piece in collaboration with Davide Gagliardi, Professor of Multimedia at the Conservatory of Milan, composer, performer and sound director of the Schallfeld Ensemble. He will accompany and support the development of the selected projects from a performative and technical point of view, and welcomes also applicants, who might so far have focused more on instrumental music (certainly also composers already familiar with electronic music are invited to apply).

Questions around Electroacoustic and Electronic Works again offers 1:1 Meetings with Davide Gagliardi to discuss any questions impuls Academy participants might have in relation to Electroacoustic and Electronic Works.

Aside from these very specific electronic programs, a couple of Calls and other impuls Special Programs partly include electronics and technology, such as Intermedia Collaboration - percussion, electronics, video, gestures, performance with Pierre Jodlowski and Christian Dierstein or Call for Scores . Double Bass in Dialogue with Uli Fussenegger.

With regard to individual lessons, the same conditions apply for computer musicians and sound artists accepted as regular Academy participants as for composers.

Like all other participants of the impuls Academy 2025, also computer musicians and sound artists are of course welcome to take advantage of the many discourse programs* impuls holds (from daily group lectures to discussions, talks etc.) and enjoy the impuls Festival program*.

Last but not least, the Academy will function as vivid meeting point and platform for interaction, exchange, knowledge-transfer, and networking.

Please check general Conditions for impuls 2025 and proceed with Registration if interested.
