Academy

Program for Electronic, Sound, Multimedia and other Artists 2027

For young electronic, sound, multimedia and other artists impuls holds a couple of specific offers and two modules to choose from:

Module A offers the possibility to participate in the impuls Academy 2027 only if selected for one of the quite intense Special ProgramsHybrid Music In Situ” with Stefan Prins or “Expanded Music” with Simon Steen-Andersen or for "K!ART . Call for Concepts, Sketches, Bits & Pieces" with the ensemble K!ART. Thus a place as participant will only be granted, if all material as required for one or both of these two programs (double submission possible) is submitted in time and the applicant is actually chosen for one of them. Only in case of actual acceptance (communicated by beginning of October in case of "Hybrid Music" and around November 18th in case of "Expanded Music"), the Registration fee is binding and due to immediately (the Academy fee hereby is to be covered according to the payment method chosen on Registration form) and a place as participant is granted (coming along with 1 additional coaching lesson with a composition coach). Only by then additional applications for further special programs are possible, as long as the applicable requirements and deadlines for application are met still, and they can be coordinated with the schedule of the time-consuming main special program in the end.

Module B correlates with a general registration for the impuls Academy 2027 - in that case decision on acceptance as regular participant is made on a ongoing basis. As soon as accepted as regular participant, applications for various Special Programs (such as "Analogue Electronics Workshop" with Annesley Black, "Bodypercussion + ad hoc instruments Workshop" with Robin Hoffmann, "Composing Relations: On Building, Breaking, and the Politics of Form" with Laure M. Hiendl or "K!ART . Call for Concepts, Sketches, Bits & Pieces") are possible (and of course so is applying also for "Hybrid Music In Situ" and "Expanded Music"), and in general 3 meetings with composition coaches are granted (unless involved in large Special Programs in the end, that come along with specific conditions as indicated with each of these programs). As to application for the Special Programs, please note: multiple application is possible, as many of these programs come along with selection – please check conditions and deadlines, and announce your interest to the impuls office. However please only sign up for those programs you are really interested in, willing to supply material as asked for, and that you actually would agree to take part in on selection.

Just as is the case for other participants, impuls opens up the opportunity to benefit from working with world-class artists. The Academy is a vivid meeting point and platform for interaction, exchange, knowledge-transfer, and networking with young as well as already most renowned artists - be it composers, musicians, ensembles, chamber music formations, vocalists, or other electronic multimedia-, sound and other artists present.

Daily group lectures, discussions, talks and other forms of discourse programs* are accessable for the participants, and so are concerts and presentations at the impuls Festival*.

Lectures, demonstrations and meetings are furthermore offered by experienced instrumentalists, such as Eva Böcker, Christian Dierstein and Marcus Weiss amongst others, sharing information on the possibilities and qualities of their instruments, on specific notation, its use in contemporary music and other aspects. Aside, ensembles such as Trio Abstrakt, K!ART and festival director Mikkel Schou invite to meetings to find out more about topics such as profile development, curation, programming, financing or audience developement.

Please check the eligibility requirements and application process for the various Special Programs offered, read the general Conditions for impuls 2027 and proceed with Registration, if interested to sign up.

In case of further questions, please contact the impuls office at office@impuls.cc.
