On Percussion

Special Program for composers with Christian Dierstein

Aside from his class for percussionists, Christian Dierstein invites composers to an additional Masterclass, that will put a special emphasis on new techniques for percussionists as well as specialities of music-theatrical forms. Specially for composer participants of impuls 2027 he will thematize particular new techniques on percussion-instruments as well as striking applications and tools. A good basis hereby offers the book "The Techniques of Percussion Playing. Mallets, Implements and Applications" by Christian Dierstein, Jens Ruland und Michel Roth, published by Bärenreiter Verlag.

On Cello

Workshop with Eva Böcker

With "On Cello", Eva Böcker invites not only her cello students but also, and above all, composers and other interested participants of the impuls Academy to an approximately 2,5-hour workshop, that offers for example insights into repertoire, notation, technical specifications for the instrument and developments in the context of contemporary music, including extended techniques. If of interest, this can partly also be examplified using scores for solo cello pieces as well as specific questions submitted in advance by the impuls Academy participants.

Careers in a fluid environment of contemporary music

Workshop-Meeting-Discussion with Uli Fussenegger

Over the past 25 years, the wider field of contemporary music has not only shaken the established artistic profiles of creative artists, it has also left its mark on professional structures. We are confronted with an extremely fluid environment of event organisers, festivals and even traditional institutions, which are increasingly (forced to) question their own relevance and legitimacy in a disruptive social environment.

For us artists, living and working in such a biotope presents a double challenge: How can artistic vision and creative freedom be preserved while at the same time seeking and securing the foundations for a secure existence?
