Program for Ensembles and Chamber Music Formations 2027

Aside from several instrumental classes for individual musicians, the impuls Academy 2027 is once more welcoming a few already existing young ensembles and chamber music formations as participants.

In general, the young chamber music formations and ensembles are asked to suggest and bring along literature themselves, which they want to work on, refine and get professional support for during impuls. Of course impuls can give advice for pieces as well if necessary, and especially suggests to include pieces by the impuls composition coaches present.

Meeting their individual interests, profiles and needs, impuls offers coaching e.g. by conductor and composer Jack Sheen and musicians like Eva Böcker, Marcus Weiss, Krassimir Sterev, Christian Dierstein, Nicolas Hodges, Ernst Kovacic, Dimitrios Polisoidis a.o., who can give support in many ways, only one of them being individual coaching for their instruments (saxophone, accordion, piano, percussion, violin, viola, cello, double bass). On top, with Sarah Maria Sun and Cantando Admont, also coaches for voice are on site.

Another important aspect of the impuls Academy´s concept has always been to interconnect composers and performers. Thus the young formations are also invited to make use of the rare possibility to work with the renowned composition coaches on a selection of their pieces during the Academy. Needless to state, impuls also encourages the cooperation in between the young chamber music formations and ensembles and the many international young composition participants by a variety of Special Programs for 2027 that are still to be extended according to further needs (such as Junge Stücke or formations with saxophone to name just a few examples).

However, aside from these already existing Special Programs, individually developed programs and projects for connecting the young chamber music formations and ensembles with young composers at the Academy (such as posting new calls for scores or sketches to be worked on during impuls, developing specific projects, organising first meetings for further cooperation, etc.) can be established, if of interest and asked for in time – ideas and wishes can be expressed already on registration, a more detailed discussion and elaboration for customized projects is then to follow after a place has been guaranteed to the young chamber music formation or ensemble.

Also, where desired, a cooperation of the young chamber music formations and ensembles with individual musicians or voices participating in the impuls Academy can be established (for example to work on literature, that cannot be realized by the original line-up of the formation itself).

Like all other participants of the impuls Academy 2027, also the young chamber music formations and ensembles are welcome to take advantage of the many discourse programs* impuls holds (from daily group lectures to discussions, talks, etc.) and enjoy the impuls Festival program*.

And furthermore, they will find slots within the Festival to present themselves as well, be it with repertoire or pieces developed during impuls – as formation, but also, if of interest, as soloists (one of the possibilities hereby being the impuls MinuteConcerts on February 13th, 2027, presenting mainly solo and small chamber music pieces throughout the City of Graz).

Last but not least, the Academy will function as vivid meeting point and platform for interaction, exchange, knowledge-transfer, and networking.
