Events 2018

Besides its Academy and Composition Competition impuls is also promoting concerts and biennial festivals of contemporary music and organising other activities like workshops, music communication programs ... and special projects like the impuls . MinuteConcerts.

Through these versatile programs impuls offers different approaches to and thus contributes to a better understanding of both classical modern and contemporary music not only for professionals, but also for broader audiences.

On Saturday, May 26th the 10th edition of the impuls MinuteConcerts. Walk through Galleries with Music will take place. Therefore impuls is starting a call amongst young instrumentalists living in/around Austria who take an interest in taking part in this special event and the workshops preceding it. To find out more about the program and concept of this format please check last year´s edition. In general we are looking for program suggestions of rather short pieces, 20th and 21st century literature plus improvisations / solos and small line-ups of already existing formations preferred / no pianos available / percussion restricted to instruments that performers bring along. The preceding workshops led by Klangforum members Dimitrios Polisoidis and Gerald Preinfalk are free of charge for all performers and offer both a feedback and a chance for in-depth work on the pieces suggested as well as to make a final selection for the event to take place in Graz. There is also a cooperation with the Brücken Festival in the region of Mürztal and the chance to get selected for a paid performance there. If interested please contact office(at)impuls(dot)cc or for see our application sheet for further information.

On June 1st and 2nd the new edition of Text im Klang will take place, including readings and premieres of impuls commissions on Friday night and a brunch with lecture, discussion and open discourse the following day. For further infos click here.

September 29th brings along a cooperation with the Festival Brücken, where former participants of the impuls Academy or the impuls MinuteConcerts and Workshops will perform at private homes.

Another cooperation, this time with the concert series open music, is scheduled for October 1st, when Nicolas Hodges, tutor at the impuls Academies, is doing a solo recital in Graz.

On October 5th a new piece of U.S. composer Jeff Weston, participant of impuls 2017, is to be premiered within a cooperation program of the Ernst Krenek Institute, Klangforum Wien and impuls.
