Eva Furrer studied at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz and the University of Music in Vienna, where she graduated in 1988 obtaining first-class honours (class of Prof. Wolfgang Schulz). Immediately afterwards she received a prize from the Ministery of Sciences and Research in appreciation of her special artistic achievements.
After having worked with orchestras (Wiener Staatsopernorchester, Wiener Kammerorchester, Radiosinfonieorchester Wien) for several years, Eva Furrer specialised in contemporary music and became a member of Klangforum Wien in 1990.
Eva Furrer has also performed as soloist at the most important international music festivals, amongst others with Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, Klangforum Wien, RSO Wien and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra and conductors like Sylvain Cambreling, Peter Eötvös, Beat Furrer, Heinz Holliger and Hans Zender.
In addition to that Eva Furrer is also very engaged in improvisation, the development of new flute-techniques on special instruments such as contrabass flute, as well as yoga for instrumentalists and composers.
Eva Furrer is a founding-member and lecturer of the impuls-Academy at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz.
